The TAG Heuer Monaco Gulf Limited Edition (CW211A) is a striking tribute to the legendary Monaco series, embodying the brand’s rich motorsport heritage through its nod to the iconic Gulf Oil sponsorship livery found on Porsche and Ford racing cars of the 1960s and 70s.
Inspired by the original 1969 Monaco worn by Steve McQueen, this model features a iconic square-shaped stainless steel case, measuring 38mm - which gives it a distinctive and timeless presence on the wrist. It should be noted that its square case shape provides substantially more presence than a 38mm watch with a round case shape; wearing more like a c.42mm watch.
The dial is black, with sub-dials at 3 and 9 o’clock, allowing for both a running seconds hand and precise tracking of events up to 30 minutes. The date window at 6 o’clock is a useful feature not always present in chronograph watches. The orange chronograph hand adds a sporty touch, complimenting the Gulf blue and orange racing stripes.
Powering the CW211A is the TAG Heuer Calibre 17 automatic movement, providing precise timekeeping and reliable chronograph functionality with a power-reserve of 42 hours.
